Shinjuku Garden / Asakusa / Ginza / Tsukiji

Got a nice start in the morning with a repeat of yesterday's grand breakfast and we were then off on the subway to Shinjuku Garden.  The expression that could sum up this experience would be a relaxed sigh "Ahh"… It is incredibly peaceful in there.  The weather was perfect so we walked the course of the garden and stopped for a cool green tea and chestnut cake snack at a Japanese tea house.

Afterwards, we headed over to Asakusa;  the old part of Tokyo.  Hilary quite enjoyed all the little snack stalls and little shops along the road to Shoji Temple.  We tried some ok takoyaki and we found a spot that sold Yuzu sorbet.  It was delicious.

From there we headed over to Ginza;  the "Madison Avenue" of Tokyo.  Nothing really special to report here;  just window shopping and taking in all the city lights and flashy stuff.

After Ginza we decided we wanted to eat sushi, so we took the subway just two stops to Tsukiji Market to find Sushi Zanmai.  After getting a little lost, we ran into a guy handing out pamphlets for that very spot and he walked us right to the restaurant.  I don't think we'll ever get tired of the sushi here.  We started off with Tamago, then moved on to kampachi, and then to the good stuff;  uni, chu-toro, negitoro, and seared toro with chives and shaved dashi which was unbelievable.

Next up… Kyoto!
